The Old Has Gone.
Some people believe that the essence of who we are is etched in stone, as immovable as the pyramids.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!”

- 2 Corinthians 5:17

Some people believe that the essence of who we are is etched in stone, as immovable as the pyramids.

Admit it.

There are people in your own life or situations where you throw up your hands and say, “That will never change.” And the truth is, it never will. Outside of some sort of divine miracle, there really is no hope of restored relationships, real forgiveness, and the open caring love that we long for. There’s no hope for the gossip, the greedy, the power-hungry, the lazy, or the fool. Barring some great miracle from heaven, there is no hope of true and lasting change for me (or you) either.

But there was a miracle from heaven: Jesus. He came to do what we could not -to restore, reconcile, and renew us. When we trust him with our lives, we are so completely changed in our viewpoint, desires, and priorities that we are considered a completely new person. “The old has gone, the new is here!”

So, if you’re “in Christ”, live like it! You’re a new person now, let go of all of the old ways that threaten to entangle you. And, if you’ve never trusted Jesus before, really consider his promise of renewal and reconciliation. I know it sounds miraculous. It is!
