God’s word is very practical and honest about the world and our “enemies” here. We regularly do battle with everything from financial burdens to health problems to betrayal and even the deceitfulness of our own selfish desires. So, we need to be ready for the fight, to be on our guard. But how?
“Stand firm in the faith.” And, your actually doing just that right now. By reading and meditating on God’s word, you’re equipping your mind with what is really true - about the world, God, and yourself. So, when the world seems a chaotic mess, you can remind yourself that “[your] citizenship is in heaven” (Phil 3:20). Or, when you are uncertain about your purpose, you can remember the “good works, which God prepared in advance for [you] to do” (Eph 2:10). God’s word cuts like a sword through the lies that threaten to overtake us. These daily battles may be hard fought, but be encouraged, Jesus has already won the war.
How does God’s word speak to you in your current battle?
Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong. Do everything in love. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14
