For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10
God’s word is jammed full of his big-picture plan for the world. It is a plan for joy and purpose, for love and justice, for goodness and mercy to rule the day. Jesus calls us out of the menial burdensome rat race of this world into a completely different way of living. The good works Jesus is calling us to live out are merely an imitation of the very same ones he lived out while he was on this earth. Because Jesus is merciful and kind to us, we can extend mercy and kindness to others. Because we are freely loved and forgiven, we are free to love and forgive others, even our enemies. The Spirit of Christ empowers his followers to live radical lives of love and service.
What specific ways can you replicate the good works of Jesus in your life?
